We are really excited to announce that our ‘For the 1’ podcast is now out! We released the trailer this week and the first episode is out on Monday 14thJune.

So why did we decide to progress from having our monthly For the 1 blog to adding in a podcast. Here is what our founder Mel had to say:

‘For the 1 was a phrase that came to my mind one day a couple of years ago when I was thinking about the impact of the work that we do with our beneficiaries. We live in a world where it is drummed into us that numbers count. I was constantly asked, ‘How many girls have you worked with, How many schools are you going into?’ and I was constantly feeling that in order to get funding, I needed to increase what we were doing. But then the phrase came to me, ‘For the 1’ and it summarised the heart and vision of our work. We are wanting to impact girls, 1 by 1. It’s not about trying to impress people with numbers, but how we can make a difference with the one.

Of course, the 1 becomes 2 and then 3 and so on, but we treat every girl that we come into contact with as if they are going to be the only person that we support or come alongside. We want them to know that they matter and that they are significant.

I knew that I was not the only one who was doing work in this way, supporting people in their community and showing them that they care, which is why we initially asked guest bloggers each month to share their stories.

A large majority of the work that we do with FREEDOM 2 is through creative programmes and so the opportunity came for us to access funding to allow some of our FREEDOM 2 Ambassadors to be part of podcast training and be part of helping to form a FREEDOM 2 podcast. It was always going to be the ‘For the 1’ podcast, as there are so many stories to tell!’

So as 1 adventure begins, one ends and so we are saying goodbye to the For the 1 blog for now (the last one will be in July) and welcoming the new as we launch our For the 1 podcast.

Thank you to Haslers Foundation (https://www.haslers.com/about-us-accountants-essex/haslers-foundation/) for funding our podcast training and Folded Wing for delivering the training (https://www.foldedwing.co.uk)
