Introducing our first season of the podcast ‘For the 1’, Why ‘For the 1?’ Because we can all make a difference and reach out to help at least 1 person. It doesn’t require you to be qualified and you don’t need to be an expert. This podcast celebrates the stories of individuals and organisations. All are passionate about raising awareness, educating and providing support for others and are specifically working to improve the outcomes for children and young people. By helping the 1 they have been instrumental in making changes in their communities and beyond.

Episode 1 - Molly Forbes

Episode 4 - Hope Virgo

In this episode Mel talks with Hope Virgo who is a published author, public speaker and campaigner for mental health. Hope started the #DumpTheScales movement and talks candidly about the need for more education on eating disorders.

Episode 7 - Big Love

This is our last episode of Season 1 ‘For the 1’ podcast! In this episode Mel talks with Em and Stu from Big Love about their journey from mission trips to Romania to setting up a charity that rewrites the stories of families and individuals caught in a seemingly never-ending cycle of poverty.

This is our second episode of Season 1 ‘For the 1’ podcast! There is a trigger warning for this episode, as there is talk about suicide. In this episode Mel talks with Denise Bentley Founder of First Love Foundation.

In this episode Mel talks with Penny from the charity @i.got.shoes who outlines the journey her husband Gary and herself have been on since starting I Got Shoes during the COVID pandemic.

Episode 3 - Space

In this episode Mel talks with SPACE who works anonymously. SPACE talks about their vital work in raising awareness of Child Criminal Exploitation and County Lines within the UK, but also how they guide and support parents who are living through this with members of their family.

Episode 6 - Reach Every Generation

In this episode Mel talks with Gavin from @reach_every_generation whose mission is winning back those who are involved in serious violence and crime. Gavin discusses his work on his Building Lives Project and the importance of inspiring and supporting young people.
